Mahesh Uttamchandani

Mahesh Uttamchandani is the Practice Manager for SME Access to Finance and Credit Infrastructures in the Finance and Markets Global Practice, World Bank Group (WBG).
The WBG Finance and Markets Global Practice implements comprehensive solutions that integrate World Bank services (loans/credits, guarantees, and risk-management products) and IFC services (advisory services and investments in private-sector firms).
As the Global Lead for Credit Infrastructures Global Solutions Group, Mahesh led the WBG's work in the areas of secured transactions, credit reporting and insolvency, including the insolvency and creditor/debtor rights initiative.
Mahesh joined the World Bank’s Legal Vice Presidency in 2006, and has since held positions both at the World Bank (Finance & Private Sector Development) and the IFC (Investment Climate Advisory Services).
Prior to joining the WBG, Mahesh worked at the EBRD and as a commercial litigator with a private law firm.
Mahesh is a Canadian lawyer who practiced for several years exclusively in the areas of secured transactions and insolvency at a leading Canadian law firm and has published and lectured extensively in North America, Europe and Asia.
