Georgiana Braga-Orillard - UNDP Resident Representative

With over 20 years of experience in the United Nations, Georgiana Braga-Orillard is the new UNDP Resident Representative in Chile. She is a specialist in development and global health, resource mobilization, and partnerships. From 2019 to 2022, Georgiana served as Resident Representative in El Salvador, where she repositioned the country office as a key reference in human development, innovation, and climate change. In this Central American country, she fostered innovative partnerships with national stakeholders in areas such as water, education, livelihoods, and MSMEs, always with a focus on gender and inclusion.

Before joining UNDP, Georgiana was the Country Director for UNAIDS in Brazil, where she mobilized high-level political support and engaged private sector partners. She also led innovative communication and community mobilization efforts during major events such as the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic and Paralympic Games. At UNAIDS, she held several positions, including Advisor to the Executive Director in Geneva for over five years. Georgiana has also worked for Radio Television Hong Kong and the South China Morning Post Group, the two largest media organizations in Hong Kong, as Director of their joint corporate social responsibility initiative. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Brasília, a Master’s degree in International Relations and Political Science from the Graduate Institute in Geneva, and a specialization in resource mobilization from the Harvard Kennedy School.
