Fayola Evans Roberts – Supervisor of Insolvency, Jamaica

Fayola Evans Roberts has served as Jamaica’s Supervisor of Insolvency since 2023. Her career in insolvency began in 1994, when she joined the former Office of the Trustee in Bankruptcy, now the Office of the Government Trustee (OGT), as an Administrator.

In that role, Mrs. Evans Roberts worked directly with insolvent persons and developed a strong appreciation for the importance of supporting honest but unfortunate debtors in achieving a fresh start. She regards one of her most meaningful achievements as helping to secure debt forgiveness of more than $11 million for a business owner. 

The Office of the Supervisor of Insolvency (OSI) was established in 2015 to regulate and supervise Jamaica’s insolvency regime. Its mandate supports the rehabilitation of debtors and the preservation of viable companies experiencing financial difficulties.

Today, as Supervisor of Insolvency, Mrs. Evans Roberts oversees the administration of insolvent estates and the regulation of Licensed Trustees. Her career has given her experience on both sides of the insolvency process: first as an Administrator working directly with insolvent persons, and now as a Regulator responsible for promoting effective, compliant insolvency administration.

Mrs. Evans Roberts was admitted to practise as an Attorney-at-Law in 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work, a Bachelor of Laws, and a Master’s degree in International Law. Her academic background, combined with her practical experience, gives her a well-rounded perspective that continues to inform her work in advancing the rehabilitative nature of Jamaica’s insolvency framework.
