Beatrice Osicho

Beatrice is a Senior State Counsel and the Deputy Official Receiver at the Business Registration Service, a government agency under the Office of the Attorney General & Department of Justice. She holds an LLB from University of Nairobi and a post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She is also an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya since 2011 and has over nine years’ experience in Insolvency Law. Currently, she serves as a member of the Technical Working Group on Insolvency Law Reform in Kenya. She has also participated in the Secured Transactions Legislative Reform process in Kenya that led to the enactment of the Movable Property Security Rights Act 2017, serving as a member of the Technical Working Group tasked with the reform process. Beatrice was also a member of the Ease of Doing Business Transformation Team (2015 – 2020) that was responsible for the improvement of Kenya’s standing in the World Bank Ease of Doing Ranking. She has also represented the Government of Kenya as a technical expert in UNCITRAL Working Groups V and VI on Insolvency and Security Interests, as well as the UNIDROIT Working Group on development of the MAC Protocol. Her efforts in Insolvency and Secured transactions Legislative Reform led to her receiving a Presidential Head of State Commendation, Civilian Division Award in 2018. She is also a member of INSOL International, a world-wide federation of national associations of accountants and lawyers who specialize in turnaround and insolvency.
