The President of the Republic, Michelle Bachelet, appointed Hugo Sánchez Ramírez as the new Superintendent of Insolvency and Re-Entrepreneurship in december 2016 after carrying out a selection process carried out by the Senior Public Management system .
The new authority is an Industrial Civil Engineer from the University of Chile, Master in Business Administration and Management from that house of studies and Master in Business Administration and Management from the Higher School of Business Administration and Management in Barcelona. Prior to his role as the new Superintendent of Insolvency and Re-Entrepreneurship he served as Chief of the Financial Intelligence Division of the Financial Analysis Unit, where he restructured the division and generated a model for measuring the Quality of Suspicious Transaction Reports (ROS). Previously, he was head of the Risk and Fiscal Intelligence area in the Office of the Superintendent of the Internal Revenue Service.
In the academic field, he is Professor of Thesis Workshops of the Department of Industries of the University of Chile, also fulfilling the roles of thesis guide and President of Degree Commissions in the Industrial Civil Engineering career of said University and is a member of the Committee Doctoral thesis: “Determinants of VAT Evasion by SMEs in Chile”, Harvard University.
