Membership of IAIR gives access to the experience and expertise of government agencies around the world. Members exchange information about the latest developments and thinking on insolvency issues at both national and international level. Members also contribute to, and draw from, comparative studies on a range of topics.

Who can join IAIR

Membership of IAIR is open to government departments/ministries, agencies and public authorities that have responsibility for insolvency policy and legislation, practice and administration and/or regulation. There may be more than one regulator in jurisdictions where responsibilities are divided or shared.

The current contribution is US$1,000 a year.

The contribution is payable on or before 1 April each year. Where an application is made and approved on or after 1 September, the membership contribution will be immediately payable but will cover the period to 31 December in the following year.

There is no separate joining fee.

There is a separate fee payable for each delegate attending IAIR Annual General Meetings and Conferences.

Membership Independence and Confidentiality

IAIR recognises the need for members to maintain the integrity and authority of their own legislative frameworks. It therefore does not look to bind members to, for example, international conventions or to common policies and practices.

Members recognise any confidentiality which may be attached to any information provided by IAIR and other members. Observers are expected to recognise any confidentiality attaching to information which they receive.

Observer Status

Observer status may be offered to a government department/ministry, agency or public authority that has yet to apply for membership of the Association. Observers are invited to attend and participate in an IAIR Meeting and Conference and to receive papers on the same confidentiality basis as members. Observers are required to pay the attendance fee for the meeting and conference and are not entitled to vote. If you wish to apply for IAIR membership and observer status at an upcoming meeting/conference, please contact the Secretariat.
