IAIR Structure

IAIR in Annual General Meeting: IAIR, in common with most bodies, is required by its byelaws to hold a meeting each year for the purposes of conducting its formal business – to approve an annual report and accounts; to appoint a chairman, executive committee and secretariat; to fix the annual contribution; and to discuss other matters such as membership, website material and other publications and IAIR activities. The Annual General Meeting is usually combined with an annual Conference.

The Executive Committee: The Committee is appointed by and from the members to oversee the implementation of directions given at Annual General Meetings and to take decisions and actions necessary to achieve the Association's purpose and objectives. The committee generally conducts its business by telecommunications.

The Chairman and Secretariat: The Chairman is appointed in an individual capacity by the members at the Annual General Meeting.

He/she is responsible for:
  • convening, coordinating, overseeing arrangements for, and chairing Annual General Meetings and Conferences;
  • relations with other international bodies; and
  • representing IAIR.

The Secretariat functions are undertaken by a member of the Executive Committee. The Secretariat functions include:

  • management of IAIR finances;
  • processing membership applications and renewals;
  • keeping IAIR minutes and other records; and
  • maintaining IAIR byelaws and rules under review.

The Chairman and the Secretariat are assisted by a part-time Executive Director.
